Hi, my name is José Costa and I’m the Owner and Chief appraiser at Costa Appraisal Service. After working in the construction industry for over 25 years and becoming a jack of all trades in the industry, I decided it was time for a change. I made the life changing decision to begin my journey of learning the appraisal business. Over the next few years, I sought out the best appraisers in the Pennsylvania area where I lived in an effort to obtain the best training possible. By the time I was able to leave the world of an “appraiser trainee” and become a Certified Residential Appraiser, I was able to work for and learn from 8 different local appraisal companies. Learning from different mentors allowed me to learn many different techniques and methodologies of valuing residential properties. If you were to get an appraisal from 5 different appraisals on the same property, you may get 3-5 slightly different values. It was learning all of these different approaches and thought processes along with over 22 years of experience appraising in the Northeast Pennsylvania market that has allowed me to become one the best and most respected appraisers in the area.
